Amelia Hogan - Vocals
A California native, Amelia grew up in Santa Cruz and began singing before she could walk. She has been performing in public since the age of 10 and has appeared as a vocal soloist at Renaissance Faires all over the United States as a member of The Guild of St. David’s. Amelia’s early influences center around the members of the San Francisco Folk Music Club and include Faith Petric, Lisa Aschmann, and Pete Seeger. Many of her songs have been learned from other local musicians including Genevieve Gerst, Amy Jones, Larry Joba, and Bob Reed. Amelia's early and continuous exposure to a vast array of folk music has given her not only a large repertoire of wonderful songs but the knowledge of how to sing from the heart and bring her audience into the very personal experience of her music. She has also studied Irish step dancing and is currently pursuing a degree in fine arts at City College of San Francisco. When not singing, Amelia can often be found near redwoods. She lives in Daly City with a large assortment of tea and lots of goldfish crackers and would like everyone to know that she is not, in fact, a banana.
Angeline Leleux - Fiddle, Vocals
Angeline is from Tulsa, OK and has studied piano and violin since elementary school. She still teaches and performs classical music on the piano, but after years of orchestra she gave up classical violin to explore the challenging world of Irish dance music. Angeline is a veteran session player and has spent countless hours playing for ceili and set dancing all over the Bay Area, with some of the finest musicians in California. Deeply involved in the local Irish community, she teaches Irish fiddle, serves as the secretary for the Western Region of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, and is one of the founders of The Sounding Board house concert series in Cupertino. She has also studied classical voice and made her stage debut as Lady Angela in Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience at Stanford University in April 2004. Listening to Angeline's fiddling, you will hear a solid rhythm which provides a foundation for lyrical playing and sparkling ornamentation.
William Bajzek - Guitar
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, William began piano lessons in elementary school before making a permanent switch to guitar at age 10. After years of exploring a disparate variety of musical styles, William developed a serious obsession with traditional Irish music. At the same time, he began studying classical guitar at DeAnza College with Ron Dunn to develop a disciplined technique. He has since served a two-year term as Ron's teaching assistant at DeAnza and performed works by Brouwer, Barrios, Britten, Rodrigo, and others. He has traveled near and far to learn what he can from such luminaries as William Coulter, Pierre Bensusan, and Pepe Romero, and by combining their advice with inspiration from both the classical and traditional music worlds, William has developed an uncommonly warm steel-string guitar tone and a very personal approach to arranging music. He lives in Campbell, CA with his three cats and a big, scary spider.
